I am being a bit paranoid at the moment but I just want to make sure there is nothing wrong. I picked up one of my Black Sex-links yesterday and found this:

I wouldn't have been concerned except for the fact that is it redder than I thought a broody patch should be. Am I wrong? Or should I bring her in and keep her under observation to see if there might be something worse going on? There doesn't seem to be anything else wrong with her, high energy, eating and drinking fine. Please help. Thank you.

Ouch! That looks painful! I've only ever had one broody and that was my silkie. She plucked herself bald like that but she's got black skin so I'm not much help.

She didn't seem sensitive to my touch either. Just paranoid, right?.... Right?!?! RIGHT?!?!

OK... Just convince me there isn't anything wrong. lol

Hopefully it's nothing. If she's acting fine and eating fine, I would try not to worry too much. Maybe she just has sensitive skin.

I once tried waxing my bikini area and my skin looked 10 times worse than your hens. LOL!

I know exactly what you are talking about!!!! At least chickens have a productive purpose in their sadistic actions.

I have pekins a and that is what they look like when they go broody.
When you pick her up and place her on the ground does she just sit for a while
and daintly look around before moving off
Mine do
The feathers they pull out is to make their nesting.
Have you found the missing feathers are they around or in her nest
If it was lice/mites they would pick at their vent
Good luck I think you are goin to be a momma

Thank you max101. I have a broody BO on a nest right now, just didn't expect a sexlink to go broody or to see it so inflamed, Caught me off guard, guess I will leave some eggs in a nest for her and see if she takes.
