There is a peahen who decided to lay her four eggs on the roof of my shed some weeks ago. Recently she’s been flying down for about 15 mins a day to walk around, hang out with my chickens and eat some of their feed. I have no experience with peafowl at all so I have a few questions.

When the eggs start to hatch, how will the chicks get off of the roof? Do I need to assist? (It’s about 10 ft high)

Should I try to take the chicks from mom and raise them like I would chicken chicks? I don’t have a shelter for her and I’m worried about predators.

Will mom return to where she came from (a neighbor) or has she made this her new home?

Thank you

I have no answers for you, I've never had pea fowl. My neighbor has a few and they occasionally come over and say hi to my chickens, that's about the sum of my experience with them lol
But I'm curious, does the hen's owner know she's hatching eggs on your shed?

Honestly, I’m not sure who she belongs to. We live on 56 acres and I have never met any of the neighbors near that part of the property. Whoever it is has more than one because I hear the others throughout the day.

It is not necessary to intervene, nature takes care of them. They can flutter down with no problems and hopefully, she will take them home.
