I have three little silkie cross mille fleur d'uccle pullets that are absolutely determined to hatch some chicks. We are trying to downsize so I really don't want to hatch more out!!! :0

Usually I put them into our broody jail for a few days and they snap out of it, however we have had a run on broody jail (we made the 'mistake' of getting almost all broody types, cochins and BO etc!!) and I couldn't get them in there in time. So I was wondering if a total change in scenery might do the trick or if I am just wasting my time trying. I have a chicken tractor standing empty and these girls are in the main coop. THey have never been outside their coop and run area. Do you think if I move them into the tractor this afternoon that they might reform??

Otherwise I am going to need to find someone who will take the chicks off my hands once they are hatched and a few weeks old....

i think a change of scenery would help. i've used the broody cage with success in the past. But also notice that if things change a lot it will snap them out of it. It's certainly worth a try. Letting them hatch eggs will be a long process and then more work for you in the end trying to place the chicks. Sounds like the chicken tractor would be a lot less work.
