broody question

hello i was wondering if one of my chickens were to lay there eggs in the nesting box and if i were to let the eggs sit in there if the chicken will know to sit on them and become broody?

It really depends on the breed(s) of chickens you have.
Some breeds (e.g., hatchery sex-link layers) will probably never go broody.
Some breeds (Silkies) will go broody quite often.
For a broody breed, if they see a nest full of eggs, it might trigger them to want to sit on the nest.
