Broody Rampage

I have several broody hens, and while most are rather passive, there is always one who loses her sanity.

After being yanked out out of her box by a non-broody hen, Lucy goes on the warpath. For a few moments nobody is safe.



She tells me off



She tells the horse off




She goes after Speedy






And runs her right out of the coop




Next, she gives the board a piece of her mind





Then barges in on another broody







Crazy Eyes barges forth to settle things






Little Sister joins in and adds her two cents worth.





By now all the broodies are schreeching







She storms off




And is so angry she settles in a box with no nesting material




She refuses to look at anyone.








What happens in the coop stays in the coop. Unless you are a member of the Red Wattle Gang.

Good ol' broody drama!

I always enjoy watching a broody hen stomp her way out and around while she's on her daily break from the nest. Mine mutter madly the whole way.

"Nobody knows how hard it is to raise chicks. Stay away from me, you puny pullet! Don't even think of it, Carl! Why is the waterer so far away from my nest? Get out of my way, this is MY dust bathing spot! Who got dirt in the water?!! Okay, I feel lighter now. I said get away from me! You're in my way. Get out of my nest. Now. You better not have touched my eggs. What's this one? Oh well, what's one more?"

She was stomping and muttering! Kinda reminded me of myself during a hot flash. Alas, I'm not raising any chicks at this time. I need to expand my facilities before I add to my flock.

LOL! I love it when broodies run amok. They are crazy. That was a great story, and I love how it ended with her in an even bigger huff.
