OK OK...I'm lost...today i hear alot of talking from my flock... I go to investigate, and its my oldest (17 1/2 week old) hen, talkinging her but off to my rooster...shes almost crowing at times to him. BUT WAIT! It gets odder, the roo has made himself a "nest" in the corner of the coop and he's talking away too, almost growling. This talk doesnt matter if I'm around or not. any ideas??? why is he sitting on a "nest" and is this hen about ready to lay????? Thnax!

Hmm that's odd. Was he maybe just dust bathing. I have mine try to dust bath in the pine shavings sometimes. If your hen is the same age as him she could start laying at anytime.

Hmm i have no clue but that would be a funny sight. My rooster likes to hop in the nest boxes after the hens and sit on eggs for a few minutes then jump out and crow like hes announcing he did his fatherly duty.
