Well I'v been hoping to get one of my chickens to go broody for the past week to no avail. Well yesterday I noticed my runner girl had a nice nest with an egg in it! I took the duck egg and replaced it with a couple chicken eggs and now I have my broody! I'm so proud of my girl. She lets me inspect her nest I have to remove the ducks eggs as they aren't fertile =( But won't let any of the other birds near her. She's not a big girl so I'll only put like 8 eggs under her. A pic of her and her nest

Your planning on giving her fertile duck eggs? keep in mind that if she hatches chicks she may take them into the water and they will drown. but saying that let me say what a pretty girl and Congrats. Also is she safe from Predators where she is? looks kind of open.

No fertile duck eggs as I don't have a boy. I'm going to take the babies away and raise them myself once they hatch. and she's not. i'm not sure what to do about that. Would she still sit on the eggs if I moved the nest inside? I just don't want the eggs abondoned.
