I am a new chicken mom and have four silkies. I have a hen sitting on 3 fertile eggs, but two days ago I noticed that two of my other hens are sitting too. I’ve tried carrying them around, taking them out of the nesting box, locking them out of the coop, but I feel awful for them. They sound so sad to me & im not sure what I should be doing. I really don’t want to have to put them in “jail”, but that’s what it’s looking like I’m going to have to do.

Silkies do not lay many eggs. Is that why you are trying to break the broodies? If you do not mind them being broody I would let them be and take out any eggs you do not want to hatch

They aren’t fertile anymore as I don’t have a roo!
