I have a silkie who started laying roughly two weeks ago now and in the past few days I caught her sleeping in the nesting box which she never did before, always roosted with my other chicken. I started paying more attention and noticed that she spends a good amount of time in there but does come out to eat and drink. We do live in New England and it recently started getting cold and this is her first winter, could it be that she’s cold? Or could she be broody? What can I do to help her? Attached a picture of my cutie. Thank you in advance! C13CAE37-9B04-4324-ACDA-CEB722180561.jpeg

Is she sitting tight in the middle of the nest?
Yes.
An update: I noticed she didn’t come out at all this morning so I picked her up out of the box and took her outside and she won’t stand up. Nothing is visibly wrong with her that I can see other than her staying nestled down and she seems the be shaking. 49C6DF79-4BB4-452D-8EF9-435F25B5752B.jpeg 65F57B42-918A-4733-AD99-9C372B38ECE1.jpeg

To add, it’s about 52 degrees fahrenheit here.
She is broody the thing with silkies is that they don't care if it's summer or winter they always go broody. Two of my hens went broody this week also. You have to keep her out of the coop and only allow her in for the night and in a week or so she will quit being broody.
