Can a silkie raise a larger chicken breed?
I want to give a couple larger breed to my broody silkie that sat on one egg that didn’t develop.
I know they are awesome moms and broody hens but does that include a larger breed.

I had heard this. I was just afraid a larger breed would outgrow her before they were done needing mom. But I guess it’s warmer now so should be ok. Have a chance to get jubilee Orpingtons.

Most birds wean at about 5 weeks, it will be fine.

She rejected them. She was aggressive about it too. Can she sit for another 3 weeks safely? She takes good care of herself. I see her out and about twice a day eating and drinking and pooping.

When Did you try and swap in the eggs. Ive found it works better at night and not during the day.

I tried after dark. And waited till late. She still work completely up and did not want them. She’d smart. Lol
