I have a silky rooster and hen given to me by friends. I did not collect eggs for a weekend and when I went to collect the eggs Monday, they were hot to the touch. Sure enough, she's now setting on six eggs. Problem is that it's dead of winter here (upstate NY) and reached -12 a few nights back. I hate to have her waste all that energy if the job is impossible to successfully complete. Can she manage to hatch eggs in cold weather? Will the babies die the minute she gets up to eat? Do I pull her off the nest?
