Our Cochin went broody last weekend, so tonight I got 4 fertile Silkie and 8 fertile Mille Fleur eggs from my chicken friend 2 miles down the road.

Hatch, Hatch, Hatch

We are hoping for a good hatching.

She said the Silkie eggs are within a few days to 2 weeks from hatching. But no telling how long the Mille Fleur will take.
We can keep a hen or 2 from this hatching, and if we are successful at hatching and raising with our chickens, we can help her (my chicken friend) hatch more along the line.
Wish me Luck...

the care of the eggs and new chick.
I would have never imagined that chickens other than the actual 1 who laid the egg would hatch another's eggs and care for the chicks. Can you tell I'm still new at being a Chicken Mom!!!
Looks to me like chickens could teach us (people) a lot about caring for young.

Patiently waiting for the rest to hatch...
