I am having a really lousy hatch this time (1 chick, waiting for another to hatch). Got a hen that's starting to get broodie. When would be the best time to put them under her? And is it really difficult? Got a 250 watt running for 4 tiny chicks (bought 2 at CT show for company). Very hot in this room! Anybody have any hints on doing this? Thanx!

I am not sure about switching them under the broody, so I can't comment on that. But I did want to tell you not to be hesitant to unplug the heat lamp when it gets hot in the room they are in. If the temperature is close to the temperature they require (for instance it is 80 degrees and my chicks are 3 weeks old.) Then I would just unplug the heat lamp for a little bit until you feel they need it again at night or whatever.

Good luck with the broody, I have been wanting my girls to go broody for sometime now. But nobody is budging.
