Just thought I would share my funny Tom. He's been brooding my hen's eggs for about 3 weeks. The hen sat on them the first few days and then he took over. If my calculations are right, they are due to hatch Thursday. I have not been able to candle because I never catch him off the nest. They should be fertile because there was a lot of mating going on before the brooding. Here's hoping his hard work pays off.

Idk, maybe it's common but it seems so odd to me
What type of turkey is he btw?
It is not common but it does happen. I had a Bourbon Red tom that would try to brood a clutch of eggs. Seems like every year someone has a tom at least try to brood eggs.

He looks like a Bronze to me.

That's really neat that he's doing that! I hope that he will be a good a mother at hatching as you said that he helped raise them with the hen last year. I wonder if a turkey Tom's good gene's like that would be passed onto his son's?
I have no idea. He's a really sweet turkey but I really only have experience with these two and a couple poults they raised last year.
