I normally hatch in an incubator (have had a couple broodys hatch) and candle at day 3 the first time. I can normally see development at that point. It is March in MA and I have a broody sitting on some eggs. We have had cooler temps with low 40's in the day and maybe in the 20's or 30's at night. I candled a couple hours before day 3 and didn't really see much in the eggs under my broody. Nothing could say for sure was developing. Could the cooler temps outside make them a bit slower? I will check again in a few days when I should for sure see something but wasn't sure if I should have some hope (and yes I know always hope since it was only almost day 3) or if even with cooler temps so bottom of nest box may be cool they should still develop at a "normal" rate.....
Hope that made sense. Trying to decide if I should break her, get her chicks in a few weeks, or give her a couple more eggs now since she hasn't been sitting long.
