One of our silkies has decided she wants to be broody
. I've been removing all eggs though be cause she insists on nesting in the dirt/mud. I added a couple of 'nest boxes' filled with nice soft shavings and let her have 1 egg today to see if she would remain setting...........
The pulled the egg out of the box, swiped a few golf balls and dug another dirt nest in the wet ground. It's going to be raining here the next few days so I can't let this continue.
Short of putting her in a dog crate for the duration, is there any way I can keep her in the nest box and off the mud?
