Broody won't stop brooding!

The bottom should be all wire with NO roost.
Broody jail should be uncomfortable as possible.
That's what breaks the broodiness.

I have found that putting them in a crate up on the roosts at night helps a lot, as well as having them in jail in the daytime.

Is that so they can't jump down? Having trouble picturing a crate on roosts...

Toss a foot long piece of 2x4 in for them to get off the wire.

The broody breaker routine I’ve followed is found in search (wire cage). I turn her loose every evening and if she goes to the nest, she earns another 24 hours. Never had one go the 5th day. Few make it to the 4th. Typically 2-3 days is the ticket

It depends how ones coop is set up.
With mine, I have two roosts running parallel to each other, at the right distance to support a crate.
Basically, it just means that they sleep where they normally would, when not broody, and I have found that it speeds the breaking process up by a day.

FYI 4 days in chicken jail in all-wire crate did the trick! I added some old wire baking racks to the bottom to make the wire easier on her feet because they have smaller gaps, but still nothing to warm her belly on.
