Broody won't stop brooding!

Toss a foot long piece of 2x4 in for them to get off the wire.

The broody breaker routine I’ve followed is found in search (wire cage). I turn her loose every evening and if she goes to the nest, she earns another 24 hours. Never had one go the 5th day. Few make it to the 4th. Typically 2-3 days is the ticket
 
Is that so they can't jump down? Having trouble picturing a crate on roosts...
It depends how ones coop is set up.
With mine, I have two roosts running parallel to each other, at the right distance to support a crate.
Basically, it just means that they sleep where they normally would, when not broody, and I have found that it speeds the breaking process up by a day.
