Hi! I was given 2 hens from a friend. She said they had been broody, so she didn't want them. I got them 5 days ago. They seem to be adjusting ok. One took right over and befriended my oldest jen. The other has been a bit skidish and follows the other around. Which I suppose is expected in a new environment. My question is, neither have laid any eggs! Is this normal? I know when you change their environments, they tend to stop for a bit, but is 5 days (or more) normal?

Try to get them to eat ,distract them with treats and toys , anew place is intimidating for them . They will lay again
They are eating, I bring "treats" out every morning and they come running for them. I just assumed they would've started laying sooner than this. I'll be patient and wait lol

If they’re eating then they are not 100% broody from
What I’ve seen . When my silkie goes broody I have to pick her up and move her to the food ... my rir is the same and my Wyandottes scream like a monster when broody and don’t eat ...
