are hatching. Is this ok, or will she crush the babies? She *really* wants to get in the nest now the the peeps are coming. She waits for me to leave the coop door cracked and then races in and jumps on the nest. The broody clucks and doesn't seem altogether pleased, but doesn't run her off entirely. They are both bantams. The broody is a white silkie and her friend is a bantam RIR.

I had a white silkie sitting on some fertile eggs that I bought and her coop-mate a bantam frizzle would sit in with her and lay an egg. After about the 2nd week of sitting on the eggs the white silkie left and the black frizzle finished the job and is now raising the chicks. I don't know if the frizzle kicked her out or if the silkie just got tired of brooding. The silkie doesn't seem to want anything to do with the chicks.
