I dusted her and the nest with diatomatious earth. Will that solve the problem? What else do I need to do?
Also, some of them got on me

do I need to be worried about my dog or cat getting infested ?
Thank you!!!

You could use Martin's lice and mite killer. I bought it at TSC for like 4$ for 2 pounds. It works REALLY well for me. I hope you kill those pesky, uninvited little rascals!

DE won't do it. You have to use Sevin or Poultry dust. I use both. The mites come in with the wild birds that love the chicken feed.

Yes it is. I've used it, but I would completely take out the old bedding and put in new bedding THEN dust the nest, then place the eggs in and then dust the broody.

I dust each time one of my hens goes broody...I just don't like taking chances.
