I am so darn excited,..what a sweety the four year old is and so cute the baby. I had to sit out in the chicken coop with them until 1:30 am to get them settled in. The ducks and chicks were making such a ruckus with the lights on when I brought the goats home that I had to stay until they all settled down. There is plenty of room for the lot in there,..but tommorow we are working on the goats den and pen. Does this ever end? I think I have hit the mode of obsessive only to hear my husband the reluctant participant tell my mother I think maybe we should get 2 nubian...geesh now he is out of control

Ps. m,y dogs aren't too pleased with this,..they wanted to make nice nice with the goats, you know I'll sniff you, you sniff me we'll be one big happy family...and the 4 year old head butts them both,..such a sight to see.

Wow, you didnt buy just any old goat did you ... that doe is lovely!

How is baby going with the bottle?

You may have read this already but please please please please please DONT LET YOUR GOATS EAT CHICKEN FEED! It is really bad for them and can and will kill them. As well as the chickens carry certain bugs which arent harmful to the chickens but will kill the goats very quickly, particularly your 3 wk old. Best for all involved if you can move them out of the chicken coop ASAP and by that I mean days, not weeks.

Congrats on the new goats and they look wonderful and I agree with Keren on the chicken feed issue as goats will eat it and it can kill them...not good... Watch out goats are like potato chips you can have just 1....I started with 5 and that was yrs ago and now have over 40...very addictive. Congrats again...

They are lovely,..I am so over the moon with Appy the 4 year old,..isn't that funny, you would think the baby would be the one,..which I adore,..but it's Appy who has stolen my heart.
Yes the chicken fees is a huge issue,..I spent all morning moving them away from it,..finally I just emptied the feeders,..the ducks and chicks had already had plenty anyhow. My husband and I have been working on the pen this morning and he just went to make a homedept run, so they will have more space to graze out all day and in a few days the pen will be done and Appy and Sam will be moving to their new digs. We are abutting them though so the ducks and chicks and goats can hang out all day together. My husband keeps telling me stop overthinking everything. His father had hundreds of goats and as well cows, horses and chickens and he says our priorities were just plain different. The things I freak out over, his father never gave a thought to. For me, I don't want the risk, so I am making their move quick to their own joint. Getting the chicks and ducks fed before opening the connecting door between the two pens. But I am going along with him letting them cohabitate during the day, it makes sense for the most part.
Sam and the bottle,..well the girl I got them from started him on the bottle,..he took in about 4-5 ounces this morning and as well last night,..so I am goig to attempt it four times a day hoping he will take in what he needs. I have been feeding him a 50/50 mix of goats milk and whole cow milk. He has also been eating hay and some of the goat feed.
