Brower Incubator.

Oh Dear i did not like mine in the least the temp would not stay stable even with a blanket. (only had it 1 year bought it new from cutler)
My best hatchs (3) was last year and that was only 40% this year was a nightmare with this piece of junk.
I had 2 failed hatches this spring hatched 5 out of 45 due to hot and cold spots in the bater and unstable temp.

Then the final insult just last week i had pheasant and bantam eggs in it.
It was day 14 and time to candle they had been doing so well.
I went in to check the incu and found it off i don't know how long it had been off.
I took out my eggs to see what had happened upon furhter inspection this is what i found.
The light socket had cracked at the screw and broken into pieces falling into the fan and frying the motor.

My pheasants were dead and luckly i had a broody hen and put 9 of the bantams under her.
I had to throw away the rest

I do not recommend this incubator to anyone it's to hard to get the temp stabalized and it has hot and cold spots.
I truly believe the older they get the worse they perform.
Mine was a piece of junk

My opinion if you really want to hatch eggs skip this incubator or you will have nothing but heartache and worry.

My next incubator will be a Hovabator Genius 1588

Please read my Thread **Devastated**

wow I have had none of those problems with mine. I have had bad luck with the styro models. Had to buy extra turner and fan. By then the price was up over what the brower cost me. Plus small window to lool thru and hard to clean. Maybe you just got a lemon. call the company maybe they will replace it. The brower has done me right for about a year now. My buddy has had one for about 3 and no problems. Hope you can figure it out.

It has already been disposed of and i won't own another one.

IMHO if you want a good incubator don't cut corners get a good one your eggs lives are on the line with cheap incubators.
Why have a so so hatch when you can spend a little more and have a great hatch.
I regret looking for and buying a cheap incu before i had this one i had a LG it didn't hatch anything *Live and Learn*

The Hovabator Genius 1588 has nothing but good reviews here and great hatches.

OK, Here's my Brower top hatch critique again for those who missed it.

We purchased a Brower top hatch incubator last summer new for about $130.00. Stay away from these folks. We have had nothing but trouble! We have used it exactly three (3) times and now the motor has burned out.

I am a former tool maker and I know something about how equipment is supposed to work. This incubator is very temperamental and will work only if adjusted precisley and is prone to break and/or go out of adjustment. They are supposed to work by blowing the air up through a center tower where it is heated by a 60 watt bulb. The air is then circulated back down around the outside of the tower. The bed is rotated by the same tiny motor with plastic gears. This system works OK only if everything is adjusted and working properly.

There are two major problems are the motor and the circulation system:

First - as the air is circulated back down the small space (about 1/4 inch) around the outside of the tower it tends to become fouled with lint, litter and/or chick down. Circulation is gradually cut off and quickly throws the temperature out of adjustment.

Second - The space around the outside of the tower allows litter (bits of egg shell etc.) to fall down into the motor/gear box area. What happens is the gears become jambed with bits of shell and the motor burns out. To have any chance or working properly this incubator has to be completely dissasembled and thoroughly cleaned after every hatch. OK, evey bator needs to be cleaned but in addition to sanitary concerns this model needs extraordinary cleaning and care.

I has taken me three very unsatisfactory hatches and many hours of tinkering with this piece of overpriced junk to draw the above conclusions. I have completely dissasembled the bator at least 8 times, cleaning and examining it closely every time. I am not one to give up on anything very easily but I am done with this piece of junk!

Also the socket that the bulb screws into is a very flimsy two piece affair that broke the first time I looked at it. I will not recommend Brower anything to anyone.

Tackyrama well said and stated i had the same problem only i paid $160 to have it shipped to my post office.

The light socket broke fell into the fan thus jamming the fan frying the motor.
