brown chicken is what?

Could be a dark cornish cross, she looks to have the "shape" from that pic. (I love the silkies, I thought they were pillows at first. Kind of went, "wha?" then I got it) I have a 3 month old with the same pattern as the second pic but she is a Millie Fleur (booted bantam) cross. I can't figure out her daddy though because she has really long white legs that don't match. That probably doesn't help at all but she looks just like her, except for the legs.

Thanks! She really is a chunky thing, though not as chunky as the British Dark Cornishes I've seen pictures of. Wow, they look like toys more than chickens. IMH and uninformed opinion, way overbred.

Yeah, I had to talk my mom out of the Cornish X Rocks or what ever those crazy meat birds are. She's like "But then you won't get attached and want to keep them because their legs will break if we don't kill them anyways!" Those are way overbred.

We ended up getting the dark cornish. I like them, it's fun when you pick one up and are just like "Holy cow, how does this chicken way so much!" Their sweet birds.

I really like yours, she's pretty. Plus, she has silkie pillows!

I thought they were stuffing or cotton balls or down pulled from a broody duck's chest to line the nest! :O

hahah I did not expect them to be silkies until I read your post and did a retake - yep! They are silkies!

The bird in question looks like she could have dark cornish in her, but she could just be hot?

Looks a bit like she has partridge rock or partridge wyandotte in her.

cornish crosses are ready to be butchered at 10 weeks of age and are a one time breed usually with a rock. i plan on getting some cornish and either rocks or orps to cross them for meat birds. they cant be over bred lol over rated maybe but are some of the fastest growing birds you could get to butcher and i plan on free ranging the babies so they should be good and tasty lol
