Ask away. I have Rose Comb Dark Brown Leghorns and Single Comb White Leghorns. My Browns started laying later than my White's did. They are pretty flighty too.

I got 13 SC chicks in late Feb. (Two died the first 2 days; leaving 2-3 cockerels and 8-9 pullets). Put them out in introduction coop mid April and out with main flock (7 adult birds - 5 Auburn Javas and 3 Silkies) about 2 weeks ago. Intro went very well.
I am raising a different heritage breed (Auburn Javas) and will be brooding their eggs this season. I wanted more usable eggs and to spread out my rooster’s “attentions” out on more hens. Of my heritage breed I have 2 Roos (one for emergency backup) and 3 hens. The hens are getting ridden pretty hard.
I have found that the leghorns have gotten bigger faster than my Javas did but are also Much More flighty.
At what age do the brown leghorns start to lay?

Are leghorns noisy? And how do browns compare to the white leghorns in terms of laying abilities/rates?

My Browns lay about as well as my Whites. My Browns started laying at around 6 months where my Whites started around 4 months. In other respects, to me they are all rather flighty. They are escape artists, at least mine have been. One named Houdini (guess why?), was tough to keep in and one day just disappeared.

My whites calm down as they mature, especially my RC whites.

My RC dark brown are always flighty, but they are great birds... lay well, long lived, pretty.

Right now I only have 1 Cock, a dark brown. Because of that the pullets I raised last year.. some are mixed color... nice looking girls.
