Brown Red questions (Ameraucana)

That sounds like the best option to me. Would buff or some other color pop up and cause problems later. Would black be better? The Paul Smith Line pullets I have are a good size. They are actually pretty big birds which is nice. I am getting two pullets shipped from Paul and I have only heard great things about his birds so that might be the best course of action. The only other place I have seen brown reds is here www.masoncreekfarm.com

Good Luck the birds are beautiful!

I have black, but they are genetically birchen; they have slate legs. Would this be the correct bird to use or a real extended black?

Would I put the brown red cockerel over the black hens and then keep only the females? I think the gold would only go to the females and silver genes would pass to the males????

I was looking at the pictures of the brown reds posted here and on the ABC, and they appear to have black legs. They are supposed to have slate legs. Can you decipher what may be wrong there?

If you have large birchen (silver) they would work also. The black legged birds are actually extended black and not birchen. You can get pseudobirchen or pseudobrown reds birds that are extended black.

What color would this pullet be considered?
