Brrrrrrrrrrr! We're talking COLD!

Brrrrrrrrr.....My daughter and her family moved to the St. Paul area this past year...It is there first winter there...I have yet to visit but hope to do so in April...Hopefully it will be warmer by then....

It has been cold here also...5 degrees last night...I feel bad for my poor quakers ...They take a couple steps and then lay down on their feet...Poor babies...Hope everyone's temps climb up some this weekend!

They picked a winner of a year to move here! I seem to recall bad winters when I was younger in the 80's but really in the 90's and the 00's we have been spoiled in Mn. Lots of snow and LOTS of cold this year- normally we have a week or two of really cold temps but this year has been lots of everything. Spring or summer are pretty times here, when you come and visit make sure you take a tour of the lakes in Minneapolis or do a drive by the river. I love walking on the trails (when it is warmer) and I think the Cities have some of the prettiest parks around! Just make sure to pack in layers as we can still see cold in April as well and if you guys end up going up to Duluth make sure you pack your winter coat- I do even in summer as you just never know what that areas temperature will be on any given day it could be 80 and then the wind comes off the Lake and before you know it it is 40

Does she have kids? Are they finding some of the nice free things to do up there? I sometimes take my kids to visit my sister, who lives in Minneapolis and we do a tour of Como Zoo- which is free. Otherwise we do day trips for small amounts of $ with the kids.

We are normaly at 60 during the day and 35 at night but last week we had a crazy cold front come through. We got down to 2 degrees at night at a high of 30 for two days. I woke up the first day it was freezing to an angry mob of ducks quacking and hissing at my bedroom window. After I got the kids to school I went out there to see there pool froze over and the top covered in poo. They must have been VERY upset that there water was froze and had to walk all over it pooing on it.

Us warm birds here are not used to that kind of cold. As a matter of fact our entire house was froze up we had no water that entire day. Neighbors all around me had broken water lines it was a mess. Thank goodness now of our lines broke they just froze. I got some water bottles out of my truck that we had in there and microwaved them since they were froze to give the ducks and chickens some fresh water.

My daughter relocated to take a job at the local news station...She moved way too far away with my granddaughter for my liking...Even though the weather has been record breaking in Minn this year they do like living there so far...My granddaughter loves my ducks ....heck she loves all ducks!...

I have to say my muscovies have not been happy with the cold and snow and ice we have had the last 2 winters. but this weekend it's to be into the 40's and sunny and by next week even close to 60. can't hardly wait. Even thought winter isn't over it's so nice to get these nice days every once in a while.

I was -8 here this morninc and it is frigid cold here tonight too! But, they are saying we could be in the 40's by next week....we are talking heat wave!!!!
