Next time you go looking for BR chicks, examine their head spot. Boys have a larger, blurry spot and girls a defined spot. Also, if they're feathering in, boys tend to feather white first and girls black first.

Head spot isn't accurate with hatchery chicks anymore. At least not with the hatchery chicks I've gotten. Here are mine at a day old.
