bruised/bleeding umbilicus on newly hatched chick Will it be ok?

It just hatched and there was blood on the stringy thing hanging from its abdomen under the vent. Is that the umbilicus? It also has bruising around the area where it inserts into the abdomen. Will it be okay? I think the bleeding has stopped. I didn't see what happened when it hatched since I'd actually gone to bed for 3 hours.

It is not bruising. It is the abdomon closing over as the yolk absorbs into their body. The stringy piece will fall off as it dries. Don't pull it. Don't let other chicks pick or pull at it either. When it is completely dried and crunchy you can snip it off about an inch away from the body if it doesn't fall over after 24 hours or so.
