Hey ya'll,
First off, apologies to those tired of my dumb questions. I'm learnin more everyday.
Anyways, I'm being offered a black australorp rooster that I'd love to breed with my barred rock hen. My question is (and I know there's no sure fire answer) what would I get if i crossed the australorp with my black sex link hen. I have no clue what breeds her parents were, so I'm sure it'd be hard to dictate.
Thanks and buenos noches......

Black sex link is very commonly a rhode island red/production red rooster and must be over a barred hen (usually barred rock). You'll get barnyard mixes with that Aussie over a BSL. You will not get any sort of sex-linked chicks from that hen, ever.

The Australorp over the barred rock will produce BSL chicks that will not get any red in the shoulders (male) or neck (female) as the father is not a red bird.

thanks alot, you just made my decision for me. i'd been thinkin my RIR cockerel will be a great breeder here soon and i don't wanna have to deal with the BA and my big BR sluggin it out.
