I have 4 chickens right now, all around a month old. I noticed today that my biggest Buff Orpington has a bubbly left eye. I put some apple cider vinegar in their waterer and sprayed some vetricyn in her eye. She isn't wheezing or have a runny nose or anything. It doesn't seem to hinder her vision, she's still bossing around the other girls like she usually does. I lightly massaged her eye to see if there was any crud in there and all I got out was a lot of dirt. I'm wondering if that may be the cause. I sat outside with them for a while and there was nothing that she was doing that made me concerned about her long term health.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The dirt in her eye is most likely causing irritation and swelling. Boil 1 cup of water with 1 level teaspoon of salt, let it cool. Then flush her eye and repeat as necessary to clear the dirt out of her eye. Once the dirt is removed, put a little neosporin ointment in her eye to prevent infection.
