Bubbly eye

I just got a roo a about 10 days ago. I noticed that his eye is bubbly and swollen, each taking their turn with the swelling, poor thing.
I have been reading up on here about CRD so I went to Tractor Supply I didn't see Tylan but found Vet RX. I have been putting that on his eye, nose and down his throat and I also started putting silver shield in his water. I did noticed that his poop was green but now it looks normal but maybe a little dry. I also separated him from the other birds.
He looks a little perkier but still has bubbles and swelling.
I have read that they can carry this for life? I am new to all this and I have a mom and 2 babies, 4 - 4 month old poulets, a pair of turkeys and a pair of pekins. I DON"T want to infect them all. What should I do?

If you don't want him to infect them all, you'll have to cull him Tylan will treat the symptoms (Vetrx isn't gonna help much) but he'll still carry the disease, and he'll give it to your other birds. Giving him away isn't really an option either, since then you'd just be infecting someone else's flock. So you'll either have to cull him or give him back to the people you got him from if they'll take him. Sorry

Good thing you quarantined him though! SO many people don't and then they lose their whole flock. Or did you have him with them already? I wasn't sure from your post. If you had him with them, they're already exposed and may have contracted it. You'll have to watch them and see.

I did have them together until I noticed he was sick. So, yes, they could all be sick!
These people I bought him from sell A LOT OF BIRDS! Scary
How long does it take to know if they are infected?
What is this disease?

It sure sounds like CRD, like you said. You may want to say something to those people, who may not know they are selling sick birds or just how serious the disease is. Or at least warn people in your area of them. As for when it shows up, it varies. Just look for the bubbly eyes, nasal discharge, sneezing etc. You can also treat with tetracycline, which I bet they have at Tractor Supply under the name Duramycin.

But there is no sneezing or runny nose anymore. He has no foul smell either. Is this fatal? Could it be something else?
I also talked to the lady and she said hers are fine

Well, no foul smell means it's not coryza. Did he have sneezing and discharge before? It could technically be fatal but usually isn't if treated properly. He will have flare ups over time, if he gets stressed or his immune system is compromised again, but in the interim he'll appear to be healthy. The bad thing is that it just never goes away, and it even passes to chicks in the egg before they even hatch. It's a nasty disease and chickens who have it, even if the symptoms are gone, never really thrive.

Unfortunately it has to be some kind of respiratory disease, because chickens don't get colds like we do. Going from the symptoms it seems most likely to be CRD. The lady's birds may be fine now, but when stressed out they would have symptoms (like the rooster being introduced to your flock, that was stressful). Unless actually your birds have it, and gave it to the rooster, but that's highly unlikely if they've never shown symptoms.

Yes, I agree. He was under a lot of stress when he came here. They had guineas that were giving him a bad time over there. He was missing a lot of feathers! but they are returning very nicely.
His nose is dry but he did have a runny nose, although I suspect it was the eye not the nose. I don't recall him sneezing.
I will keep in away from the rest and will cull him if I need to. I want a healthy flock!

Glad he's looking better! Yep, just keep him away from your others and try to minimize germ transfer in every way possible. Good luck with him, it sounds like he's in a better home now than he was before
