Hi there....
I am fairly new to having backyard chickens and I was wondering if anyone has ever had a Buckeye that has a tail like a rooster but has a head of a hen. My chicken is about 20 weeks and today for the fist time I herd the bird sort of crowing. I am having a hard time figuring out if this is a hen or a rooster. I have always thought Rosie was a hen.... but now.....??? My birds have not started laying any eggs yet so I am not sure. Has anyone had this issue with a Buckeye? ( I have 2 other Americanas)

Welcome to BYC and Happy Holidays! You might want to post pictures of your guy/girl in the What Breed Or Gender Is This forum. But, since Buckeyes have peacombs, the roosters often do not have very big combs at all, especially at first, and especially if they are a late maturing roo.
