Buckeye Color Standard Question

We are in the process of culling our Spring hatches. We are fairly new to Buckeyes, and I am wanting some help interpreting color standard.

We have two young roos, very nearly identical. One has solid black tail feathers, the other has mahogany red lacing/edge on all of his tail feathers--which is more correct?

My standard book says:

General surface color an even shade of rich mahogany bay in all sections, with the exception the unexposed primaries and the secondaries and the main tail feathers may contain black. Male sickles and coverts should be shaded bay and black, thus avoiding a sharp contrast between the body and tail.

That's my question. It's not 'shading' like we see on the hens. On the one roo it is a narrow lacing on all the tail feathers with mahogany.

I haven't seen any pics of Buckeye roos with the 'lacing' on their tails.

Buckeye cock birds should not have lacing on their tails. Here's a gorgeous bird, owned by Don Schrider:
