buckeye nutts?

So after using the forum search button to find my answered and coming up with nothing... Having a ready supply of buckeye nutts I would love to know if I can crack them open and give the meat to the birds. Any input is welcome.
 
I also have a bunch of those (buckeye "nuts")

to my east, seriously tho, buckeyes are toxic
 
I'd say if squirells can eat them and wild birds they would be fine for chickens. You could just feed them to you least liked chicken and see what happens.
