Buckeyes

Your local library can probably get a copy of the American Poultry Association "Standard of Perfection" on interlibrary loan. Or you could order one from the APA website-I think the black & white version is $15.
If you're planning to be a breeder you really need a copy of the Standard.

Hey, I didn't think about going to the library to see if they had a copy. I will be ordering my own though, eventually. I've not started building my flock yet. The ALBC has a lot of good info on them that I printed off.

There is not a Buckeye breed club. There is a group of us who are about to begin the process of starting a Buckeye Club soon. If you are interested in joining & forming a Buckeye Club, please send your contact information (email will be good enough for now) to me at:

Thanking you in advance.

I dont have a standard of Perfection for the breed, I know they must have pea comb, and that mine look like the ones that competed at the Delaware show. That is only place I have seen them other than pictures and on line only couple of hatcheries have them and most in limited supply. I got mine form Meyer.

As I posted above, here is a link to a thread on the Coop that has four pages of dialogue and pictures of Buckeyes (and more than 50 posts)-- click on the bottom right to read the next 4 pages.

ABOVE POST:

Here is a thread I started on another forum about Buckeyes that consolidates a lot of information in the discussion about the Buckeye (NOTICE that there are 5 pages & 60 posts on the thread):
