Songster
Here’s some pictures I took of my sweet rooster today, and he’s as handsome as ever! What a stud! I rarely see any of these chickens on the dipping bars anymore, they used to fly up there all the time. It always makes for some really cool photos. He also tried out his custom eyepatch I got for his missing eye! He didn’t keep it on and I don’t think there’s any way to get it to stay on with the way it’s made, but we certainly tried!
A little story about our Buddy:
He used to be our “stalker”. One day, out of nowhere, he just decided he was going to spend his days right in front of the house. He enjoyed spending his time nesting on the porch, hopping about, perching on the chairs on the driveway and foraging in the grass just on the side of the house. He also took great pride in keeping guard of the house, crowing at all hours of the day and greeting all the delivery drivers who would deliver our packages on the doorstep. This was how he chose to spend his time, all day, every day. He wouldn’t leave to be with the rest of the flock except to roost. This chicken stalked us for MONTHS! He followed us everywhere, and at one point we even let him sleep in the garage for a couple of months because at that time he didn’t even want to sleep with his friends. He was obsessed with us humans, and we don’t know why! Slowly, he started gravitating back to the flock and spending more time around his friends, until he decided to start sleeping in the coop again. It was a blessing to be stalked by this weirdo while it lasted, but also a blessing that he’s back to being sociable with his own species! He still comes up to visit every now and then, and still follows us around sometimes. But his main ambition now in life is ladies, ladies and LADIES! This story is actually the way he got his name. By being our stalker, he was also our little buddy. We could always count on him to be around and would sit with us in our lap most evenings. While the rest of the flock enjoyed doing traditional chicken activities, he chose to be our Buddy instead.
He’s a true sweetheart
