Buff and grey chicks—just got them today

Ah, that makes a little more sense than Lavender Orpingtons (which I love, by the way.) Lavender O's aren't that common yet and since the hatchery is out of L.O.'s for the year, White Giants are more likely. :)
For assortments they'll send whatever extras they have. The only grey downed white breed they have are the white Giants, though I would have expected slate legs. Unless they ran out of brown egg layers and sent something else...

WG have yellow legs, so I don't know.
White Giants have slate legs. Yeah, the whitish legs don't match, but the down color/feather color isn't any of their other brown layers.

Yes! I think so!
OK, so I have another one for you. I got a mixed bag of rare breeds from Mt. Healthy Hatchery about six weeks ago. It's been fun trying to figure out what breeds I have. They are all supposed to be females and I am pretty sure this one is a Barnvelder; however, I don't know if it is a male. The other two of the same breed have little comb development and their combs are just yellow. What do you think? Give it some more time? She/He certainly doesn't act like an incipient rooster. My dominant pullet (a Brahma, believe it or not) puts this bigger chick in its place every day.
