Buff Black tail question

Buff is Black tailed Buff with the Dark Brown (Db ) gene added so crossing them would probably give more or less, black tail buffs, probably with varying ammounts of black.

Same for the whites, if the WTBs have two copies of Dominant White then you all of the chicks will to so you will get more or less white tailed buffs. If they only have one copy of Dom white you will get half white tailed and half black tailed.

half white tailed and half black tailed.

Note: not on the same bird...

Yes but you will have to produce birds that have two copies of the columbian gene (from the buff bird) for your birds to get rid of the black tail. You will want to leave one dominant white gene in the offspring. The dark brown gene and columbian work very well on wheaten. Are your birds Japs?

Old English, Im getting some nice Black Tailed breeder birds to cross with my Buff I have now and I would like to breed back to solid buff. I might do a large order of solid buff from ideal and cull heavy and keep the typy birds.

Agreed. I have a couple pullets from a Buff Orp roo on RIW hens that are mostly solid buff with a few white feathers in the tail that I am keeping around incase I need to cover the black in the tails of my Buff Barred birds.
