Our 8 week old Buff Brahma "mystery chick" from a hatchery. We think it is a roo based on very slow feather development, a reddish comb, aggressive behavior (no attempts at crowing yet), and not much feather "pattern". But we know brahmas are slow to develop (look at the puff still on the back!), and we will likely have to wait several weeks to know for sure. This is the only brahma we have and was received in an order of Speckled Sussex pullets. It's probably the cutest chick I have ever seen. We are planning to integrate this batch of chicks with some other older ones that willSo what is the jury's opinion here?

Thanks for all of the replies. Yes, he is a beautiful bird and is quite funny and curious. I'm sure he'll end up more than twice as big as our hens. We already have a white leghorn rooster who is pretty sweet and nice to his hens (he helps them with nest boxes and performs and egg song for them and is a good "watcher") and I don't really want to upset things but things could work out. We're doing a slow integration of this batch of 8wk birds (this cockerel and 5 pullets) with some that are about 25wks old (one roo, 4 hens) If we don't keep him we'll find someone locally that will take him.
