Thinking about getting American Buff geese eventually, we're talking in about 1-2 years, in michigan. But now we're planning out a new poultry setup in the old horse pasture so want to get it right. Fencing around an area that's always had standing water in it and using that as part of the "free range" area.
Currently have ducks chickens and guineas all housed together. They free range without boundary and like the garden. Planning to separate duck and chicken main housing but still share the fenced free range.
Geese:
should they be ok housed with ducks?
How many to get? Males/females?
How much shelter space?
Ok to free range with others?
If they find the creek will they return nicely or try to live in it?
Are they fairly winter hardy like ducks?
Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks
