I have 2 buff geese, male and female about 16 weeks old. When do they breed and how are the eggs? Are the eggs good to eat? What about goslings and interbreeding? I don't want 12 geese in my yard! Anyone have any info on them from experience?

They won't begin breeding until late winter of 2019 maybe Jan -Feb depends on where your located. Around 9 months old usually.

Goose eggs are delicious make awesome omelets and great for baking too. Enjoy

Love to see some pics of your babies.
Thank you so much!!

My Buff laid every other day from Feb till May . As long as you keep taking eggs up they will lay leave them and your going to get a broody. Love the pics precious:love

One more side note when they get to breeding age, Your gander is going to become obsessed with his mate and may give off the impression he is of the mafia but try and keep in mind this is totally normal behavior but he may get aggressive if he feel a threat to her even if it's only in his mind. But having children around you'll need to watch him. Hopefully it won 't get to extreme since he is a Buff, My Embden even though he is now 11 yrs old is still pretty hateful when breeding season comes around. Nippy is one way to put it, but we also have in the sticky's top of goose forum ways to train a gander some good ideas there. Enjoy those precious ones.
