I'm picking up a Trio of Buff lace Polish tomorrow. She said they are 10 weeks old and she can't tell if they are hens or roos. This is the photo she sent me. What do you think? Hen or Roo?

Hen, at that age the roosters will have red combs and wattles, on the buff laced both sexes have messy crest, so go by comb and wattle color and development.

Will the crest ever straighten out or will it stay messy?

They are never as neat and tidy like the white crested varieties. I only have photos of mine during last year's molt, I keep mine trimmed for better eyesight.

Still awesome looking birds! They just have a crazy hair day everyday.

Thank you.

Do 10 week old Buff Laced polish get the lacing when the feather out or after they molt???

They don't get their adult plumage and permanent feathers until 5-7 months, so colors aren't set yet, they will have a couple of baby molts to go yet. Are yours not showing any lacing yet?

They have a little lacing. I'll post pictures in a few minutes.
