buff laced polish

are buff laced polish chickens good pets or are they just fun to look at. do your buff laced polish chickens act CRAZY like every one says they are?

I love mine so much I ordered 12 more this spring!! They are sooo tame and funny. Ours have been handled since they were day olds. I trim their feathers around their eyes so they can see better. They are beautiful in the sun too. You will enjoy them very much. They do lay poorly so do not count on them for eggs for eating. They are mainly an ornamental yard ornament!!!!!:lol

most of the black-n-white polish i have owned were flighty and crazy..
my 2 buff laced (1 roo,1hen) were GREAT!!!! not as calm as my cochins,, but for a "light" breed were actually great/fun birds.. i have thought about getting more polish but ONLY if they are buff laced

Mine are flighty, but can still see pretty good. I've handled mine some, so their not as freaked out by it as a couple I used to have.

Hello,
I have one Buff Laced and one White Crested Black Non Bearded Polish. I am looking for one Silver Laced to add to my Polish coop.

Latte, the Buff, is very active bird. She likes to "attack"

the dogs through the fence and does lots of other "goofy" stuff. My White Crested Black is much more calm. My Polish chicken don't seem to trust me as much as my other birds though. They for example don't eat from my hand. They are funny to look at but they do not lay any eggs except in the late spring and summer.

We have a WCB Polish hen, who I just adore. She's pretty intellegent, as I've taught her to come when called. We're ordering some more Polish fowl from My Pet Chicken in February. The breed is remarkable in all ways. We don't show the fowl, but they'll be pets as long as they live.

we keep several colors of polish in bantam size, including the buffs.
Their pet quality seems to always depend on the amount of time you actually spend with them. Most silkies are tame from the word go, where as the polish need to be handled from the begining to make a "PET" out of them. I have some that would ride around on my shoulder after rasing them this way, then I have some that you have to chase to catch??
The tame ones are great, very lovely. None are really flighty, that I have at least, but if you want a pet out of one, you will have to work with them from chickdom!
In short, go for it, you'll love them, I'm a crested birds addict myself. Nothing cooler than watching those pom poms bounce as they runn around, very comical
