I crossed my buff orp roo and black australorp hen (both hatchery stock) and got these. I read many posts saying that the resulting chicks would be able to be sexed by color; girls would be black and buff, males would be black and white/silver. All the chicks I hatched (4) came out black with buff cheeks and have feathered out to be buff and black. Based on their coloring they should be females, but their combs are telling me differently. Anyone have experience with this/what are you opinions?

They are about 6 weeks old now

All 4 of them have combs like the pictures. Some have saddle feathers coming in that look rounded while others look like they will be pointed. I'm very confused at this point lol

I'm not sure where you were getting your info, but you can't get a sex link offspring from an Aussie hen. Black sex links need a barred or cuckoo hen, red sex links need a silver hen. The 3 featured birds are all cockerels.

Agreed.

Minus the comb (which isn't as pink as the photo makes it appear) does the feathering look like this could be a pullet? It's just about 8 weeks now. I have 4 chicks from the same hen/rooster, all 4 of them have noticeable combs but 2 of them have smaller combs, smaller bodies and feet than the other 2. I'm hoping the difference is due to them being opposite sexes rather than just slower maturing males.
