Buff Orp Ducks

I am having NO luck at all replacing my Drakes that a mink got this winter.

My Buff girls are not laying yet (or if they are, they've hid their eggs someplace, probably the later, I bet there is a pile of duck eggs out there someplace!) They are SOOOO desperate, they are breeding with my Americana Roos!

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it!

Does anyone have a pic of a good quality Exhibition Buff? Mine have an awful lot of white on their backs, so I am thinking if they are not great quality, I might just get rid of them and get a trio of Cayugas or East Indies or Calls instead... I really like them, but they're going to do me no good without a drake.

Or anyone have a suggestion on a breed to get to put with them? I suppose I could make Mutt Ducks for the auctions... Or my freezer.

I had a buff. She won some kind of ribbon at a 4-h competition.

My buff hen was the BEST! She had the best attitude ive ever seen and she was the best mom.

I have a couple Buff x mallard left from her but if you dont get the drakelet offered above and are interested in seeing pics of buff mutts just let me know

I used to have Buff Orpingtons but my last drake died (the dog 'played' with him), I got a Swedish drake and the gals raised some nice ducklings with him (hatched them out themselves in a big communal nest in the lilac bushes). I sold the last of them and later got Anconas, but if I hadn't been able to get them I would have got Orpingtons again. Hope you find a good drake for your girls!
