I've been told that these chicks are buff orpingtons. And then i was told that they were golden buffs. So I looked a little bit online, and now I'm seeing that golden buffs are sex links. I'm soooo confused!!! TSC is insisting that they're buff orpingtons.

Can anyone help me identify these chicks?
We have four total from the same bin. They were all listed as pullets. Two of the chicks from that bin have distinct chipmunk stripes on their back. Two of them don't (one of these two has very light stripes, I wouldn't even say that they were stripes for sure). The two with stripes are larger than the other two.
I can't figure it out. It seems to me like they might be different breeds. But I can't tell. Too new at this chicken thing. I think next time I get babies, I'm just going to order them so I know what I have (hopefully!).

Thanks! Guess we just have to wait until they're older to see if they're the same breed or not...and then if they're boys or girls!!

Coming from the same bin, I'd say they're the same breed. But knowing that two have stripes, and two don't... Makes me wonder. Is that a sex link trait? Or is that a different breed?

Can't wait to know for sure!!!

The assorted pullet bins are usually full of different breeds of sex link birds. They are the easiest to sex reliably.

Thanks! Like a dope, I didn't write down what was on the sign on the bin, and they weren't helpful when I called back the following day. I didn't think about different breeds in the same box!
