Buff Orphington Rooster

The b.o. roo I currently have is sweet as can be to us and the hens. He was rambunctious his first year
(Constantly on the hens) but never agressive. You can pick him and he loves to take treats from us.
Seems it varies from line to line, but this one is great!

I have had 2 Buff Orpington roos. The first was absolutely aggressive towards people. The second, a direct offspring of the first, is not aggressive but is nevertheless the dominant bird.

I have a B.O. and a Easter Egger roo. The B.O. is very aggressive to my kids- to the point of if anybody wants him, come and get him! He is pretty aggressive to the hens, too. Not a gentleman for sure! The Easter Egger is much nicer- or at least not mean! The only plus to his toughness is that he could probably scare away any predators that might come around!

I have done this with many different animals. It works for ferrets, rats, dogs, cats, and apparently roosters (If he is worth the time). Hunger is a powerful motivator and some of my most loyal animals came from that type of training.

I'm guessing an aggressive roo that can be tamed is going to be an excellent rooster as far as breeding with and protecting his girls. Lot's of ROOtosterone!

I like what Arielle wrote about feeding the roo from a cup that they hold.
I never thought about that, thank you for all you wonderful ideas.
I know that I will be trying many of them to see what works best for
my roo should he become a problem.

I love this site I get so much practical good advice. Thanks back yard chicken lovers.
