Double checking the gender of these two now that they are a bit older. Both nine weeks old today. One an Easter Egger and one a buff Orpington

The EE looks like a cockerel, and the Orpington gives me pause- but wouldn't call cockerel just yet.

9 weeks I'd expect a cockerel to have a reddened comb, so even though the comb is pronounced on the Orpington- the color and wattle size make me hope for pullet.

Thank you! I am still hoping as well. Already had to rehome one that was clearly a rooster. It seems I might be hoping falsely on this Easter Egger. We have another that has a clearly red comb. I understand about the coloring but is there ever any instance that a hen could have this coloring? Also do we have to wait until the Orpington is significantly older, like egg laying age, to know for sure?

The only thing that suggests the BO is a cockerel is the comb. No wattles yet, and posture could be either.

I wouldn't be 100.% on the EE either. I can't tell from the pic, but it looks like it may have a single standard comb opposed to a pea comb. If it is the former, you very well could have a pullet. The later, most likely a cockerel (combined with what appears to be pointy hackles)

You should know for certain on the BO here in a week. Repost then 👍

Your EE is definitely a cockerel.
As for your Buff Orpington, I'm not sure, but leaning pullet. Update in a few weeks for that one.

Not sure on the EE, but I’d say cockerel on the Orpington because of the comb size. Mine are 9 weeks right now and their combs are all pretty small.
