Thanks for the suggestions BuffOrps32! We got them from Meyer Hatchery, hatched early November 2018. The Buff Orpington is the leader of the flock for sure. He likes to follow me around the yard, hoping for treats. (If you've never seen a huge fluffy BO come running full speed toward you for a snack you're totally missing out!) He doesn't like to be held or pet, but is happy to be close by people and will eat out of your hand. He's not been too rough on the hens yet. He has given me a single hard peck twice but it was more out of being startled than him being aggressive, I think we've got that resolved now.
The Easter Egger is smaller and more shy, very gentle with the hens. He's the protector of the two smallest girls in our flock, they stick right by him. He's not aggressive at all, he's not exactly afraid of people but doesn't really want to be a pet either, more neutral, I guess. He likes to "herd" the ladies, when they stray or go out of his comfort zone he always rounds them back up to the henhouse or under the cover of trees.
Both great birds, my daughter raised them by hand and we interact with them every day, so they're reasonably social fellas. Let me know if there's anything that I missed! I'm happy to drive them pretty much anywhere in DFW, Weatherford and surrounding areas, and make pretty regular trip to Ennis and Terrell where we could meet someone also.
