Two of my three Orps are so brave and sweet. They step onto my hands, climb up my arm, fly up to my shoulder now, and, as of this morning, onto my head! That said, the third one is a greedy, standoffish whiner, and I'd call her Veruka Salt, were she mine to name. (Ironically, my stepdaughter named her Angelina...)
I have 2 BA's that are sweeties. One has a clutch of babies right now and when she was setting she would let me candle and never growl or try to peck me. I can pick up her babies and she doesnt freak out. I just rehomed one of her little cockrels tonight and she didnt mind at all when I picked him up and put him in the box. They are 3 weeks old. I also have a BR rooster that is the most laid back sweetest roo you have ever seen. He is very good to the girls and will let us pick him up. He used to be a lap chicken but now that he is bigger He acts like it embarrasses him to set on your lap. I have 2 BO mixes that are very friendly on that likes to be cuddled in the crook of your arm like a baby. The only mean chickens I have ever owned was hatchery RIR's. They were not mean to us but would pick on the other chickens and terrorized my ducks. I rehomed them along with their BSL roo that was mean to our BR.
